Blogging My Trail to Eagle

.
So first off welcome to my virtual trail to eagle. You will be able to read most if not all of my trail to eagle posts here or you can view them at http://trailtoeagle.posterous.com. You can also view them on the page above called trail to eagle.  Through this blog I hope to show you what I am going through on my trail to eagle.First a little background, I am a 16 year-old star scout. I am the senior patrol leader and webmaster for my troop. I am also heavily involved in the OA lodge as lodge secretary and ceremonies team chairman. I joined scouts in third grade as a bear and have been doing it ever since. In my troop I have also served as troop quartermaster, instructor, and historian in the past.

My hope is to earn my life and eagle ranks in 2010. I am a bit behind on the schedule I had made because of school and the school musical which I had a major role in, but now that it is all done I hope to dive back into scouting. Below is my plan:

February -

  • complete Citizenship in the Nation
  • complete Personal Management
  • complete scoutmaster’s conference and board of review for life
  • attend council life to eagle seminar (when offered)
  • begin hiking (plan hikes, do first aid req’s)
  • begin personal fitness
  • begin planning project

March -

  • present project to troop committee and council committee for approval
  • begin securing supplies, manpower, etc for project
  • complete emergency preparedness
  • complete citizenship in the world
  • continue planning project

April -

  • continue merit badges
  • begin project when ready or able or continue planning

May -

  • complete personal fitness
  • continue project work/planning begin when ready if not already begun

June -

  • continue doing project

July -

  • continue/complete hiking
  • continue/finish project

August -

  • finish paperwork, and remaining requirements
  • eagle board of review

So how’d I do? I hope that I will be able to keep to this plan and I am going to post weekly progress updates and whenever else I make notable progress. Am I missing anything? let me now in the comments.

  • That’s a brilliant plan you’ve got there – sounds like you’ve got a lot of stuff to do!

Just out of interest, how many hours a week do you spend doing scouting activities?
