A couple of weeks ago the Scoutmaster’s Musings blog posted about a new training they had started in there troop called the Tech Chip. The point of this training was to teach scouts how to responsibly use there electronics on outings. The program was developed by his SPL and PLC. I think this is a great idea. As technology becomes more and more intertwined with our lives it becomes increasingly harder to be unplugged for a weekend campout and I even find myself having trouble with it. This tech chip is similar to the totin chip that socuts must earn before using knives, axes or saws. I am hoping to implement this in my troop as this will simplify condfusion when it coems to electronics on cmpouts and other outings. You can read the original post here http://www.boyscouttrail.com/blog/478.asp. Also you can find the award page at boy socut trail here http://www.boyscouttrail.com/content/award/tech_chip-2052.asp. This is a great idea and I hope other scouts and socuters find it as useful as I do!
